Oglethorpe welcomes Rebecca Hart as women’s lacrosse head coach

ATLANTA—Rebecca Hart has been named the next head coach for Oglethorpe women's lacrosse, announced Director of Athletics Todd Brooks on Thursday. Hart brings a wealth of NCAA Division III experience with her after serving as head coach at Methodist University from 2018 to 2023.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Rebecca Hart as our new head women's lacrosse coach," Brooks said. "She has a tremendous amount of experience as both a player and as a collegiate coach. Her enthusiasm and professionalism were apparent to the search committee. I am extremely confident that Rebecca is the right person for our continued progression toward a consistently competitive women's lacrosse program."

Hart most recently served as an administrator for LaxManiax Lacrosse Club where she coordinated logistics and developed collegiate recruiting programs for a Florida statewide elite lacrosse program.

Hart's position at LaxManiax followed a one-year stint as assistant coach at NCAA Division I Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where Hart helped lead the women's lacrosse team to a perfect 8-0 Big South Conference season. The team went 14-6 overall, winning the Big South Conference regular season and postseason tournament and making an appearance at the NCAA tournament.

From 2018 to 2023, Hart served as head coach at Methodist University, a member of the USA South in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In six seasons, including two seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hart led the team to 46 wins, culminating with a 12-7 (7-2 USA South) record in her last season. Methodist finished in the top four in the USA South in four of the five conference seasons under Hart.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to be the next head coach of Oglethorpe women's lacrosse," Hart said. "I would like to think Vice President for Student Affairs Meredith Raimondo, Director of Athletics Todd Brooks, and the rest of the search committee for choosing me for this role. I know that Oglethorpe is a place where our students will grow as learners and leaders. I am ready to compete hard each day with our student-athletes as we work to achieve excellence in the classroom and within the Southern Athletic Association."

Prior to her position at Methodist, Hart served in an internship in the office of academic support in athletics at Villanova in 2017, was a graduate assistant at Messiah University from 2016 to 2018, and was a student-athlete at NCAA Division I Campbell where she finished her undergraduate work in 2016. Hart served as a team captain at Campbell from 2014 to 2016.

Hart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise and sports science with a minor in psychology from Campbell in 2016. She finished her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education with a concentration in academic support at Messiah in 2018.
