Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Story by Abby Wheeler

Despite last minute goal, Petrels fall to Scots

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Nick Krull scored a goal in a crucial moment for Oglethorpe during the final moments of the game versus the Covenant Scots, but the Stormy Petrels fell 2-1.

Within the first three minutes of the game, Christian Watson took a strong shot, top left, to set the tone for the game. The rest of the half stayed at an offensive stalemate with many shots from both teams, tallying 10 each. The defensive pressure from Sebastian Lewis helped keep the Scots at bay. He recorded two saves.

In the second half, Watson came out of the break hungry with a shot two minutes into the half.

After a foul in the penalty box, the Scots were awarded a penalty kick, and although Lewis was able to save the kick and keep the score equalized, the Scots were successful on the rebound, putting home the game's first goal.

Shortly after, Covenant came back with another goal, increasing the lead to 2-0. However, the Petrel pride held strong with an authoritative shot from Daniel Gardner. This shot gave the momentum back to Oglethorpe when Watson placed a perfect corner kick outside the box for Krull to a header and a goal in the 87th minute.

With the score 2-1, the Petrels continued to fight looking to equalize the score with three shots by Luca Orsi. Time was not on Oglethorpe's side to convert on the offensive burst they had, causing them to fall after one last shot by Watson in the 89th minute.
