ATLANTA—Owen VanMarter scored the game winner in the seventh minute before adding a second tally in the 19th minute, and the Oglethorpe men's soccer team dominated a 3-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran Friday night at home. The match marked Oglethorpe's second straight win and the Stormy Petrels' start to the 2025 John P. Salamone Invitational.
VanMarter's pair brought his season total to four through four games. His first came by way of an Angelo Nkosi pass in the box that went by a defender and found VanMarter open for an easy finish to the near post.
Nkosi also earned another assist on VanMarter's second goal as an attacking play starting near midfield saw Nkosi find Anthony Rouse. Rouse proceeded to find VanMarter on the right side with an excellent through ball, and VanMarter finished with a lofted shot over Wisconsin Lutheran goalkeeper Aaron Lambert.
Jackson Biggs rounded out Oglethorpe's scoring with a nice finish in the 81st minute. Following a long-range shot from Kaden Greenfield that rebounded back into play after Lambert's save, Biggs beat Lambert to the loose ball and buried the shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
