ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 93-85 at home to the Sewanee Tigers after another close game Friday night.
Malachi Dooley led with 20 points and six rebounds. Carter Watkins followed with 19 points, then Andrew LaVigne and Kam Stone with 14 each. Jackson Kemp made seven rebounds and Mason Kemp had two assists.
Watkins began the game with a layup, which was immediately mirrored by the Tigers. Sewanee controlled most of the first half, but free throws from Stone gave Oglethorpe the lead in the final moments.
The Petrels were out front for the first 10 minutes of the second period, until the Tigers crept back up. The last time the Petrels held the lead was 62-61 with 10 minutes remaining. Sewanee quickly built up a strong lead, and the Petrels were unable to keep up. Stone sank a 3-pointer at the very end, but Oglethorpe fell 93-85.
Game Notes
- Before the game, Dooley was honored with a plaque to commemorate his 1,000 career points, achieved on December 5. He became the 35th player in program history to reach the milestone.
- Dooley made four assists.
- Cyrus LaPlant made his first block and assist of the season.
- Overall, the score tied 10 times.
