GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels had their second draw of the season with a 1-1 finish against the Southwestern Pirates Friday evening. Marlie Sikora scored the first goal of her career, while Katherine Crim made season high of 11 saves. Crim faced 27 shots overall, another season high.
The Pirates held control for the beginning of the match, taking several shots that were saved by Crim. After the seventh shot, the Petrels gained possession and immediately went for the goal. Ana Williams shot first, and although it was saved, that allowed Sikora to make her goal. The rest of the first half was back-and-forth, but the Petrels headed into halftime with the advantage.
Oglethorpe held Southwestern at bay for most of the second period, but the Pirates took advantage of a corner kick around the 77th minute. The Petrels took four more shots and Southwestern made two, but neither side could finish the deal. The 1-1 final score marked Oglethorpe's second and Southwestern's third draw of the year.
