ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels wrapped a weekend of Southern Athletic Association games with a 74-66 win against the Millsaps Majors.
Carter Watkins led with 17 points and four rebounds, followed by Malachi Dooley with 14 points and four rebounds. Jackson Kemp made 12 points and five rebounds, Andrew LaVigne had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Dooley hit a 3-pointer right out of the gate, and the Majors were quick to respond. Dooley also made an impressive dunk, but Millsaps went on to dominate the first period. They gained as much as a 13-point lead, then Kam Stone tied the score 27-27 after a series of free throws. The Majors pulled away again, reaching 31-29 at halftime.
Dooley and Watkins went on an 8-0 run to start the second half, moving into a 37-31 lead. Oglethorpe held the lead for a majority of the period, only falling one point behind for about one minute. From there, Dooley, Watkins and LaVigne combined for a 7-0 run. The game ended with four good free throws from LaVigne and two from Mason Kemp. The Petrels walked away with their third SAA win.

- Stone made a career high of three rebounds. He also went 7-for-7 on free throws.

The Stormy Petrels will play at Sewanee on Friday, Feb. 6, at 9 p.m. EST. The next home game will be Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. against No. 15 Trinity as Oglethorpe celebrates senior night.
