ATLANTA- The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell to Millsaps College 94-79 at home this Sunday afternoon at Dorough Field House.
Sheraton Foster was welcomed into the 1000-point club and tallied six points and two rebounds. Keimarya Rivera led the team with her second high scoring game in a row, tallying 30 points, seven rebounds and one steal. Anna Conza followed, recording 18 points.
Rivera got the Petrels on the board early. However, the Majors returned with offensive power of their own leading to a back and forth beginning to the game.
The back and forth ended in the second quarter when the Majors broke away with a lead as large as 11 points. Marlie Battle scored a late basket to end the half 47-38.
The Petrels were unable to recover their nine-point deficit as the Majors went on a 20-2 run in six minutes of play. The lead as wide as 25 points left little room for Oglethorpe to make a comeback in time. Despite a career night for Foster and high-scoring game for Rivera, the Petrels fell 94-79.
Game Notes
- Battle recorded 12 points. Malia Melton followed with seven points.
- The score showed seven lead changes and four score ties.
- Conza went 3-4 from the 3-point line.
