Petrels fall at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels faced a loss in their first road game of the season, falling 15-4 to the Piedmont Lions Wednesday evening.

Anna Ramsden led with two goals, then Jersey Cuni and Ellis Mitchum made Oglethorpe's other two goals. Mitchum had four caused turnovers and three ground balls while Sarah Liang had three caused turnovers and an assist. Madelyn Gardner made 10 saves.

Piedmont scored five times in the first quarter, the only goals for the period. The Lions scored twice more before Ramsden found her first goal in the middle of the second quarter. The Lions scored again, quickly followed by Ramsden's second goal. Cuni scored her goal in the third quarter then Mitchum in the fourth, both surrounded by multiple Piedmont goals.

Game Notes

  • Mitchum's goal was man-down.
  • Both teams went 1-2 on free position shots.
  • Brenda Jimnah recorded the first ground ball of her career.
