Women's lacrosse falls to Meredith

ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels suffered an 18-6 loss to the Meredith Angels in another tough home game Sunday.

Savannah Freeman and Ellis Mitchum led with two goals each. Freeman also had two ground balls and two draw controls. Jersey Cuni made two assists, and Anna Ramsden won four draw controls. Goalkeeper Madelyn Gardner made 14 saves.

Meredith scored six goals before Freeman put the Petrels on the board, and the first quarter ended with Oglethorpe down 7-2. Mitchum made the first goal of the second period, but the Angels continued to dominate. Mariah Butler scored a man-up goal toward the end of the period, but the Petrels headed into halftime down 11-4.

Scoring slowed in the second half, but Meredith remained on top. Ramsden scored toward the end of the third quarter, then Freeman made a man-up free-position goal in the final 30 seconds of the game. Despite hustle and perseverance from the Petrels, the home game ended in an 18-6 loss.
