DANVILLE, Ky. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 96-71 to the Centre Colonels in another tough Southern Athletic Association matchup on Sunday.
Malachi Dooley led with 22 points and five rebounds. Jackson Kemp followed with 20 points and nine rebounds, then Kam Stone with 12 points and three assists.
J. Kemp was the first on the board with two good free throws, which were soon mirrored by the Colonels. Oglethorpe and Centre were evenly matched for the first 10 minutes of the game, with the score tying four times. However, Centre pulled away in the next 10 minutes to lead 51-27 at halftime.
The Colonels found another significant run at the top of the second half before J. Kemp could sink a 3-pointer. Centre prevented the Petrels from finding any major runs, but the Colonels still only outscored Oglethorpe by one point in the second half. Similar to the Sewanee game earlier this weekend, a bad first half was Oglethorpe's downfall, this time 96-71.
