Strong finish for women’s golf in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Oglethorpe women's golf team finished 12th of 19 at the Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday.

Freshman standout Dounia Bezzari led the Stormy Petrels with the highest individual finish, tied for 28th place after shooting 76-75. Bezzari's first round finished 3 over par and she reduced that to 2 over par on her second day, moving her up seven spots and finishing 5 over par for the tournament.

Elizabeth Powell finished tied for 45th after an important second round where she finished 1 under par and moved up 36 spots. Mackazlyn Payne also had a strong second day where she shot one over par and moved up 29 places to finish tied for T52.

Katie Sulko (T79) finished 79-84 and Macie Stefano (T86) ended 84-81.

As a team, Oglethorpe finished 12th overall, seven strokes away from 10th place.

Up next, the Petrels will compete next in Jekyll Island, Georgia, at the Jekyll Island Collegiate at Great Dunes March 20-22.
