ROME, Ga.- The Oglethorpe University men's soccer team fell to Berry College 1-0 Wednesday night in the Southern Athletic Association opener.
Luca Orsi took the first shot of the game but missed out right. The Vikings returned with four consecutive shots but none to move the score.
The Vikings scored in the 55th minute and Oglethorpe looked to equalize. Luke Montes took a shot on goal to retaliate but was contained by the Vikings. Shama Shasha, Ethan Martinez and Aiden Au-Ferris all looked to extend the game by taking last-minute shots. Ultimately, Oglethorpe ran out of time and dropped the first match of the Southern Athletic Association slate 1-0.
The Petrels outshot the Vikings the whole match (12-10) and took eight shots in the second half to Berry's five yet could not get on the board. Sebastain Lewis made two saves, both in the second half.

- Lewis is now second in the SAA for saves with 30.
