The Oglethorpe baseball team defeated the Piedmont Lions 6-2 on
Wednesday behind a stellar outing from pitcher Mark Hoban. The win
improves the Petrels to 3-1 on the year.
The Petrels started off with two runs in the first, and then
followed that up with a run in the second and three in the third.
They would not score again, but they had all the cushion they would
need. They never trailed in the game.
Hoban, who transferred to Oglethorpe from Piedmont before last
season, threw 8 1/3 quality innings, striking out 10 men in the
process.
J.J. Rizzo and Andy Farrey both recorded multi-hit games for
Oglethorpe.
The Petrels will next be in action Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.,
when they will take on Atlanta Christian from College Park.
