The Oglethorpe baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by
Huntingdon on Tuesday evening, losing the first game 7-5 and the
second 6-1.
In Game 1, the Petrels fell behind 4-0 before coming back with a
four-run third inning to tie the game. The big blows of the
inning were an RBI double by J.J. Rizzo and a two-run single by
Stephen Archer. However, the visiting Hawks were able to scratch
out three additional runs, and though the Petrels got a run back in
the sixth, it was not enough.
Joseph Parillo had a good day at the plate in the first game,
going 3-4. John Hale was stuck with the loss, despite pitching
relatively well.
In Game 2, the Petrels gave up five first-inning runs and then
ran into the ace of the Huntingdon staff and were able to only pick
up one run on four hits, striking out 10 times. Mark Hoban settled
in and pitched well after after the first inning, but was also
stuck with the loss.
The losses drop the Petrels' record on the year to 10-7 going
into this weekend's SCAC opening series at Rhodes. The action will
start Saturday at 1 p.m.
