The Oglethorpe baseball team had a tough day Sunday in Memphis, Tennessee, falling 11-2 and 14-4 in consecutive games of a doubleheader to fall to 9-16 on the season overall and 5-9 in SAA play.

In Game 1, the Petrels took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Junior catcher Alec Babb led off with a single to right field, and sophomore first baseman George Krivsky and junior third baseman Andrew Noack followed with consecutive singles to load the bases. Sophomore right fielder Carson Weir drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout and the Petrels added a second run on a wild pitch. They did not score again, however, and Rhodes scored three runs in the second and two in the fourth. They put the game away with four more tallies in the seventh.

Oglethorpe tallied just four hits over the course of the game.

Rhodes largely picked up in the second game where they left off in the first with a 14-4 win in a seven-inning contest. Oglethorpe took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Krivsky RBI double, but the Lynx quickly responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, two runs in the second, four more in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth. That gave them a 14-3 lead after Oglethorpe scored a pair in the fourth inning. In the seventh, junior catcher Rajan Sampat drove in another run with a single, giving the game its final margin.

Krivsky had a solid game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. 

The same two teams will be back in action from Memphis Monday, when they complete the rain-delayed four-game series with a doubleheader starting at noon Eastern.
