Stormy Petrels back in win column

ATLANTA — Three Petrels dropped double digits in the scoring column in a 69-41 home win over the Scotties of Agnes Scott on Tuesday. The game was Oglethorpe's first contest in the last 10 days and the first of four home competitions in December. All nine Petrels in the rotation found their way into the scoring column to help improve the team to 7-0 in the last seven meetings against the Scotties.

The contest's first quarter came to a tight close at 16-13 with the Petrels ahead by just three, thanks to Malia Melton's six first-quarter points. Oglethorpe managed to create separation from the Scotties in the second quarter after a 21-7 run that featured six Petrels scoring.

Coming out of the half, the Petrels were besting the Scotties 37-20, and after outscoring Agnes Scott 18-8 in the third, Oglethorpe was comfortable heading into the fourth quarter sitting at a 55-28 lead. The fourth quarter featured the closest competition with Oglethorpe outscoring the Scotties by a single point finishing out the final quarter 14-13, led by Atlanta native freshman Gabby Hudson's four fourth-quarter points to give the Petrels the 69-41 win.

Oglethorpe's offense was led by Hudson's 14 points, junior Rose Dolmovich and freshman Charity Cloud dropped 12 and 11 points, respectively. Cloud's 11 points were a career high.

All nine Petrels landed in the rebound column, led by freshman Morgan Skipper's team-high six rebounds. Sophomore guard, Emma Perna's presence was felt all over the court and stat sheet with six points, three rebound, three assists, and seven steals while shooting 60% from the field.
