Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Chloe Clemensen

Stormy Petrels bring the thunder against Tennessee Wesleyan

ATLANTA - After an hour-long weather delay, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels dominated against the Tennessee Wesleyan University Bulldogs with a final score of 21-5. The women's lacrosse team remains undefeated in the season so far at 7-0.

The game was led by sophomore Ally Moir, making a season high and matching her career high of nine goals. Moir also totaled four assists.

Moir kicked off the first quarter, making two goals for the Petrels before the Bulldogs could score. Oglethorpe moved into the second quarter with the upper hand at 3-2, thanks to a late goal from Kaitlynn Alford.

Tennessee Wesleyan was able to catch up midway through the second quarter, which kicked the Stormy Petrels into gear. Oglethorpe was able to get two goals ahead of the Bulldogs, at 7-5, until a lightning delay was called with just over three minutes remaining in the quarter. After an hour and thirteen minute long delay for the weather, the Petrels hit the ground running.

Tennessee Wesleyan's goal made minutes before the lightning delay would be their last of the game, as Oglethorpe went on to score once more in the second quarter, post-lightning delay, seven times in the third quarter, and six times in the fourth quarter.

With less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, Moir made a goal to more than quadruple the Bulldogs' score. With a final score of 21-5, the Stormy Petrels remain undefeated in the season thus far.

Overall, the Stormy Petrels scooped 19 ground balls, went 18-19 on clears, forced 15 turnovers, and won 17 draw controls.

Oglethorpe will hit the road this weekend to take on NCAA Division II Young Harris College on Saturday, March 12, at 1 p.m.
