LAGRANGE, Ga.—Uba Ezigbo drained a 25-foot 3-pointer as time expired to send the Oglethorpe men's basketball team to an 87-85 victory over Huntingdon in a neutral-site game Saturday at LaGrange.
Trailing by one with under four seconds left and inbounding the ball under the basket, Dylan Pumpian found Ezigbo at the top of the key. Ezigbo took two dribbles before sinking his second 3-pointer of the game to swing the one-point deficit into a two-point lead. Less than one second remained, and the Stormy Petrels held on with a deflection on Huntingdon's inbound to end the game.
A close game from start to finish, Ezigbo's 3-pointer represented the fourth lead change in the last two minutes.
"That was our best offensive game of the year," said Head Coach Philip Ponder. "Fifty percent shooting and only nine turnovers will win you a lot of games. Our first-shot defense was good also, but we can't be giving up 24 offensive rebounds. That's something we need to correct, but we found a way to win. That's a good win against a quality team."
Ezigbo finished with 15 points, one of four Petrels in double figures. Perry Robinson led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds. Jordan James followed with 19 points, and Pumpian scored 10.
