ATLANTA—After coming off a thrilling win over the weekend, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels hosted the Running Eagles of Life University. Hoping to stack another win, Oglethorpe fought until the end but ultimately fell 18-6.
The Petrels were held scoreless in the first and fourth quarters but posted an even three goals in both the second and third quarter. Despite the loss, sophomore goalie Tori Perez recorded 20 saves with a 52% save percentage on the night, a new career-high for the West Palm Beach product.
The Running Eagles were able to hold the Petrels to their lowest scoring performance of the season. Freshman Anna Ramsden, who has been a force throughout her first five games of her NCAA career, led Oglethorpe's offensive efforts with two goals on the night. Senior Kendall White also recorded two points on the night, one goal and one assist, moving her to 15 goals and five assists on the season for 20 points through five games.
Junior attack Ally Moir totaled the most overall points for the Petrels tallying one goal and two assists for three points. The Florida native now has 22 points on the season through 15 goals and seven assists. Junior duo Kaitlynn Alford and Sydney Trammell did it all for Oglethorpe between the boxes. Alford finished with one goal, one assist, three ground balls and two draw controls as Trammell added one goal, two ground balls and five draw controls.
Oglethorpe now turns its efforts toward regrouping and preparing for Saturday, as they look to stay undefeated against Brenau University. The Petrels now sit at 3-2 on the season overall and are averaging 15.2 goals per game offensively.
