ATLANTA – In their final nonconference game of the season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels defeated the Randolph Wildcats 12-2 despite the nasty weather.Â
Richard Bedgood IV and Carsen Van Note each recorded three goals, while Jazz Washington and Max Brand each recorded two. Van Note also recorded two assists, scooped 11 ground balls, and won 10Â faceoffs.
Goalkeeper Addison Irwin recorded 10Â saves, as freshman Jay Williams recorded his first two collegiate saves.
Although the Wildcats scored the first goal of the game, Washington quickly got the ball rolling for Oglethorpe. The Petrels went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter, Van Note scoring the eighth with just six seconds to spare.
Oglethorpe did not allow Randolph to score in the second or third quarters, rising to an 11-1 lead by the fourth quarter. Randolph was able to score early in the final quarter, but the last goal of the game came from Brand, and the Petrels triumphed 12-2. Â
