RALEIGH, N.C. - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels got back on track after an 18-9 win over the William Peace Pacers that saw eight Petrels in the scoring column.
Quade Bedgood led with a season high of seven goals. Israel Pendleton-Moore, Jazz Washington, Robbie Coull and Hinton Chandler all scored two goals, while Noah Stroud made the first goal of his collegiate career. Pendleton-Moore also had four assists, while Stroud and Alexander Zaichick made two each. Goalkeeper Xay Duax made 18 saves.
It took a few minutes to get the ball rolling, but Bedgood scored the first goal of the game. After a lot of back-and-forth, William Peace tied things up with their first goal. The Pacers went on to score twice more, and seemed to have the upper hand until Washington scored. Bedgood made the next two goals which brought Oglethorpe to a 4-3 lead at the end of the first period.
The second quarter seemed just as slow as the first, with only five combined goals. Oglethorpe remained up 7-5 after a buzzer-beating goal from Bedgood, assisted by Pendleton-Moore.
After halftime, the Petrels really found their footing. Oglethorpe only allowed the Pacers one goal and moved to a 12-7 lead after another last-second goal from Bedgood. The Petrels quickly strengthened their lead in the fourth and final quarter and did not let up for William Peace. Even though the Pacers managed a goal in the last 40 seconds, Oglethorpe claimed an 18-9 win.
