ATLANTA – In their final game of the regular season, the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 16-7 to the Berry Vikings.
Ally Moir led with four goals and one assist, while Amber Fuentes had five groundballs and four caused turnovers. Makenna Bowens won a season high of nine draw controls while Sydney Trammell won six draw controls. Goalie Tori Perez, the reigning Southern Athletic Association player of the week, made 11 saves and a career high of three caused turnovers.
The Vikings managed to gain a three-goal lead early in the first quarter, but the Petrels quickly went on a 4-0 run to take the lead. Anna Ramsden was the first to score, followed by Moir and Fuentes. However, Berry scored twice more before the period ended. The Vikings dominated the second quarter, sending Oglethorpe into halftime down 11-4.
After a 30-minute lightning delay during the break, the third quarter began with another run for Berry. Trammell was able to find a scoring opportunity, but the Vikings responded with three more goals for themselves. Oglethorpe prevented Berry from scoring in the fourth quarter, with two goals from Moir, assisted by Savannah Freeman on the first, breaking the 10-point difference. Despite their efforts, the Stormy Petrels fell 16-7.

The Stormy Petrels will compete in the Southern Athletic Association tournament beginning Friday, April 19, with the top two seeds hosting the first two rounds. Oglethorpe will be the five seed and will travel with the four seed to the regular-season winner and top seed. The semifinals will be held on Sunday, April 21, at the same site as the quarterfinals.
