ATLANTA- On Sunday afternoon, the Oglethorpe men's soccer program extended its unbeaten streak in the final match of the John P. Salamone Invitational after a late equalizer against Lynchburg saw the Stormy Petrels draw the Hornets 1-1. It was a historic afternoon for the program as the men's team did not lose against Lynchburg for the first time since 2016.
Pat Figaro scored in the 57th minute to give Lynchburg the lead. However, Jon Akin's men showed incredible resilience as they responded 23 minutes later. Adrian Levy sent an incredible long range shot past Lynchburg goalkeeper Thomas Viscuso to keep Oglethorpe's unbeaten streak alive. It was the senior's third goal of the season.
The players and coaching staff will be frustrated that they did not get three points. However, the team did not drop their heads after conceding the first goal. The match against Lynchburg was the second time this season that Oglethorpe came from behind to salvage a point.
