SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Oglethorpe women's soccer team took on a tough Sewanee team to continue their slate of Southern Athletic Association games Friday night on the road. Despite a stalemate first half and huge defensive presence from Katherine Crim, the Petrels fell 2-0.
Quick shots out of the gate for the Tigers resulted in Crim racking up five saves early in the first half. Allyssa Hearn returned the fire in the 33rd minute with a strong shot to the bottom left but could not advance the score. Three more shots from the Tigers could not find the goal and kept the score tied at 0-0.
The Petrel defense went to work quickly in the second half defending two shots within the first 10 minutes. However, the Tiger offense was persistent as they broke through the back field and scored in the 65th minute, making the score 1-0. Hearn responded swiftly with a shot of her own three minutes later but could not score. Sewanee pushed forward and got another opportunity to score, capitalizing on it again and increased the score to 2-0 in the 78th minute.
With no more shots taken and time running out, the Petrels ran out of wind and could not find the victory.
Crim tallied 10 saves to the Tigers' three.
