ATLANTA- Oglethorpe senior Zachary Benner has been named the Southern Athletic Association athlete of the week. His strong performance over the weekend propelled him to this honor for the second time this season and the fourth of his career.

Benner ran an exceptional time of 24:29 this week at the Georgia Tech Invitational. This elite 8k race with several NCAA Division I schools competing was no deterrent for Benner as he took home fourth place and set a new school record.

Up next, Benner and the rest of the Stormy Petrel will travel to Roanoke, Virginia, to compete in the South Region Preview on October 18. This is the last meet before the Southern Athletic Association Championships.
