ATLANTA—After a close win on the road followed by a dominating win in the 2025-2026 home opener, Oglethorpe senior forward Keimarya Rivera has been named Southern Athletic Association athlete of the week for the second time in a row. Rivera posted double-doubles in both games, including a double-double in just the first half in Saturday's home win.
Rivera started the week leading the team with a 14-point, 13-rebound effort against LaGrange on the road. She then led the Petrels again by tallying 20 points and 11 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action against Huntingdon. Rivera was impressive from the field on Saturday, shooting 7/8 (87.5%) which led to her second double-double of the season.
Rivera's dynamic offense and strong defense extended a lead for the Petrels to as large as 37 points over Huntingdon, which made room to showcase the Stormy Petrels' depth of roster and finishing the game 85-48.
The Stormy Petrels and Rivera are back on the road to face Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. The next home game is set for Tuesday, Nov. 25.
