Men's basketball beaten by No. 7 Emory

ATLANTA - The Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels fell 88-64 to the No. 7 Emory Eagles after a tough game Saturday evening at home.

Malachi Dooley led with 15 points and four rebounds, followed by Jackson Kemp with 12 points and six rebounds. Andrew LaVigne made 10 points while Mason Kemp had five rebounds and four assists. Kam Stone made two steals.

Emory was the first to score, then Carter Watkins put the Petrels on the board. The Eagles made an early lead, until the Petrels tied things at 10-10, then again at 15-15. Oglethorpe pulled ahead for the first time thanks to a 3-pointer from LaVigne and a jumper from Stone.

The score tied three more times, then the lead went back-and-forth. Oglethorpe's final lead was at 25-24, then Emory dominated the rest of the game. Halftime had the Petrels down 45-38, even after a basket from M. Kemp.

LaVigne started the second half out strong, but the Eagles proved even tougher. Emory dominated the second period, but freshman Cooper Colvin still managed to make the first basket of his career. The fast-paced offense and brick wall defense from Emory resulted in an 88-64 loss for the Petrels.
