Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse | | Story by Abby Scott

Men’s lacrosse succumbs to Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Oglethorpe's second travel game of the year ended in a striking 20-6 loss to the Huntingdon Hawks Wednesday evening.

On the offensive side, Gannon Johnson led with three goals and one assist. Liam Miller added one goal, while Aniedo Udoh and Peyton Knowles each contributed a goal to total six scores for the Petrels.

At faceoff, Gabe Hunter secured multiple key possessions, including several clean wins in the first and fourth quarters to give Oglethorpe additional opportunities.

In goal, Ian Wood got the start and recorded multiple saves in the opening half, including key stops on Tristan Dial and Kelcey Marston to keep the Petrels competitive early. Wyatt Desaussure entered in relief in the second half and added several saves of his own. Defensively, Jerald Spoto, Charles Caskey and Daniel Carpenter each caused turnovers, helping disrupt Huntingdon's offensive rhythm at key moments.

Oglethorpe opened the game with strong offensive pressure, taking a 2–0 lead behind goals from Miller, assisted by Matthew Wilson, and Johnson. Johnson later added another goal to tie the game 3–3 midway through the first quarter as the Petrels matched Huntingdon's early pace.

The second quarter saw a momentum shift. After Aniedo Udoh found the back of the net to keep Oglethorpe within reach, Huntingdon capitalized on extra-man opportunities and faceoff wins to build separation heading into halftime.

Oglethorpe continued to compete in the second half. Johnson added a fourth-quarter goal, and Knowles connected late off an assist from Johnson for the final Petrel score. Despite continued pressure and defensive stops, Huntingdon maintained control down the stretch, and Oglethorpe ultimately fell 20–6.
