ATLANTA—Oglethorpe sophomore Ellis Mitchum, standout midfielder, was an integral piece to the Stormy Petrels' dominating victory Saturday over Berry College on senior day. This earned her the first Southern Athletic Association offensive athlete of the week recognition of the season.
Mitchum scored a career high-tying six goals, tallied five draw controls, and caused three turnovers in the Petrels' 20-13 victory. Two of her scores came from free position shots, and she also tallied the game winner as well.
Mitchum sits at No. 7 overall in the SAA for goals per game and No. 4 in draw controls per game.
The Petrels will be back in action at home on Friday, April 24, to face Southwestern University at 3 p.m. A win will qualify the team for the SAA tournament which is set to start next week in Memphis, Tennessee.
