Box Score The men's soccer team rallied to beat Rhodes on Salamone Field
on Sunday afternoon, 3-2. Oglethorpe overcame a 2-0 halftime
deficet and scored 3 second half goals, including two in the final
12 minutes, to earn the win.
The Petrels were celebrating senior day though the team's lone
senior, Evan Britton, was unable to play due to a high ankle
sprain.
Oglethorpe fell behind 2-0 but got a goal in the 60th minute
from Nick Williamson to cut the lead in half. Then, in the 78th
minute, Mark Lavery fed E.J. Ovie-Ogodo for the equalizer. With
only two minutes remaining in the contest, Lavery again created for
a teammate and found Steven Bott alone in the box who crushed it
home for the game winner.
Oglethorpe outshot the Lynx 18-13 and earned 10 corners to just
one for Rhodes. With the result the Petrels are now 6-7-1 on the
season and will travel to Texas to face Southwestern this
Friday.
