The Oglethorpe University women's tennis team lost to Agnes
Scott College on Downing Howell Courts on Monday afternoon, 7-2.
The Scotties swept the doubles competition and then fought off the
Petrels in the singles matches to claim the win.
The doubles combinations of Alison Burt and Jayme Danielson
(number one) and LaDonna .Barnes and Kimberly O'Dell (number
three) each lost by the score of 8-4. The number two duo of
Sarah Beth Britt and Molly Colvard fell in their match, 8-2.
In the singles matches, Danielson (7-5, 6-0), Britt (6-2, 6-1),
Burt (3-6, 6-2, 10-8) and Sarah Duff (6-3, 6-4) all went down to
their Scottie opponenets. Colvard won for the Petrels from the
number three slot in a thriller, 7-5, 4-6, 14-12 and O'Dell won her
third consecutive singles tiebreaker, 7-6(3), 3-6, 10-5.
Oglethorpe is now 2-3 on the season and will face Huntingdon
College on the road this Friday at 2:30 p.m.
