The Oglethorpe University men's tennis team defeated Cedarville
of the NAIA on Thursday, 6-3. The Stormy Petrels jumped in front by
claiming two of the three doubles matches and senior Brad White
clinched the victory for Oglethorpe by winning from the number
five singles slot.
Looking for consistency, head coach Peter Howell shuffled the
doubles combinations to great effect. Though the number one combo
of Ross Beall and Brad White stumbled 8-2, the Petrels triumphed at
numbers two and three with Felix Mann / Bryan Bailey and Lawrence
Sweatman / Alex Biffle winning, 8-4 and 8-1 respectively.
In the singles matches, Mann (6-3, 6-1) won at number one,
Biffle (6-0, 6-1) at three, Bailey (6-0, 6-0) at four
and White (6-0, 6-1) at in the aforementioned five spot.
Oglethorpe is now 2-2 on the season and will travel to
Huntingodon College tomorrow (Friday, March 5) for a match
scheduled at 2:00 p.m.
