The men's tennis team dominated Huntingdon College on Downing Howell Courts on a sunny Saturday afternoon that featured a nice crowd. The home fans were treated to a 9-0 sweep of the Hawks by a Petrel squad that is starting to gel.
The Petrels set the tone by sweeping the doubles competition. At No. 1, Sandy Christofferson and Ross Beall teamed up to win 8-5 while the duos of No. 2 Felix Mann-Bryan Bailey and No. 3 Alex Biffle-Ethan Motz white-washed their Hawk opponents, 8-0.
Oglethorpe also breezed through the singles matches, only dropping one set along the way to clinching the match. Mann continued to roll at No. 1 while Motz and Biffle cruised at No.'s 2 and 3. Bailey won briskly love-love at No. 4 and Tim Tanko scored at No. 6. Christofferson dropped his first set at No. 5 before rallying to claim the second set and the tiebreaker. The Netters are now 2-1 on the season and will face Piedmont College at 3:00 p.m. on March 2 on Downing Howell Courts.
