The women's tennis team won on back-to-back days on Wednesday and Thursday to snag their first two victories of the season. The Petrels downed Piedmont 8-1 on Wednesday and then swept LaGrange College 9-0 on Thursday.
Down a player, the Lions had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches but it would not have mattered otherwise as the Petrels rolled against the available competition. Jayme Danielson and Katarina Te combined to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-1 while Caffrey Francis and Kate Siess won easily as well, 8-2.
In singles play against LaGrange Oglethorpe got victories from No. 1 Jayme Danielson, No. 2 Katarina Te, No. 3 Sarah Duff and No. 4 Clara Reinheimer. Kate Cassell stumbled at No. 5 to give the Panthers their only point of the match. Complete match results from Wednesday included below.
The Petrels enjoyed their first road trip on Thursday by travelling to LaGrange and earning a rather easy sweep. Oglethorpe only allowed the Panthers to win 5 of 24 games en route to the whitewash. In singles play, the Petrels prevented the Panthers from winning nary a set. Complete match results from Thursday are included below.
The Lady Netters are now 2-2 on the season and will battle Berry College in Rome, Ga. on Friday afternoon.
