The men's tennis team and the Sewanee Tigers have enjoyed a fierce rivalry on the courts the past sevral years. On Friday afternoon the Petrels got the best of the big time matchup, winning 6-3 on Downing Howell Courts.

The match seemed to turn on the result of the battle at No. 1 singles where Felix Mann-Ross Beall eked out a 9-8 win that included staving off two match points. With the victory at No. 1, Oglethorpe secured two of three doubles points to create the momentum they needed in singles play.

In singles, the Petrels got wins from No. 1 Mann, No. 3 Ethan Motz, No. 4 Alex Biffle and No. 5 Bryan Bailey to close out the important conference victory. Complete match results are included below.

Oglethorpe now boasts an impressive 12-3 record on the season and will do battle with Austin College and Birmingham-Southern in more SCAC action on the Oglethorpe campus on Saturday.
