The men's tennis team picked up their second staright victory on Friday afternoon by topping Berry College on Downing Howell Courts, 8-1. The Vikings grabbed their lone point with a narrow win at No. 1 doubles but the Petrels swept through singles play in straight sets for the easy victory.
Ethan Motz and Rajiv Dinakaran stumbled 8-5 at No. 1 doubles but the duos of Benjamin Hirsch / Kirk Zhao and Craig Borne / Cedric Andre picked up the slack with 8-6 and 8-3 wins, respectively. With two points in hand, the Petrels took the confidence they needed into the singles matches where they dominated.
Motz won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 and Hirsch plowed through his Viking opponent 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2. Zhao won in unblemished fashion 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Dinakaran avenged his doubles loss with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 wn at No. 4 singles. Borne and Andre wrapped up the match with easy wins at No.'s 5 and 6 to give the Petrels their second straight match victory. Complete results are listed below.
