The women's tennis team wrapped up a difficult stretch of four matches in five days on Wednesday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. with a pair of 7-2 losses to Colorado College and Colby.
Squaring off with Colorado in the morning session, the Petrels fell behind early by dropping each of the three doubles matches. Sophomore Caffrey Francis scratched out a Petrel point with a nice 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles and freshman Tricia Groover notched the other Oglethorpe point with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win. Against Colby, the Petrels managed to grab a point in doubles play as Francis and Clara Reinheimer combined for a gutty 8-6 victory. Francis, however, was the lone Petrel to win her singles match as Colby sprinted to victory. Complete match results posted below.
Francis compiled a solid 4-1 record on the road trip at No. 1 singles while Groover posted a 3-2 mark playing No.'s 5 and 6 singles.
The Lady Netters are now 4-12 on the season and will next travel to face Hendrix and Centre in doubleheader action on March 31.
