The men's tennis team topped Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga. on Wednesday evening, 7-2. All three doubles matches were decided by the tight score of 8-6 with the Petrels winning two critical points to set up their seventh win of the season.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Ethan Motz and Rajiv Dinakaran survived their match 8-6 before the No. 3 combo of Craig Borne and Cedric Andre rallied to win 8-6 to give Oglethorpe the edge heading into singles play.
The Petrels then blitzed through the Lions in the singles matches, winning four of their five points with straight set victories over their Lion opponents. Only Borne at No. 5 singles had to extend to three sets where he emerged victorious, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (5). Complete match results listed below.
With the win, the men improve to 7-11 on the season and will brace for their final regular season match against Millsaps in Birmingham on April 21.
