The women's tennis team notched their seventh win of the 2012 campaign on Wednesday evening by topping Piedmont in Demorest, Ga., 5-4.
The Petrels nearly swept through the doubles competiton but the No. 1 duo of Katarina Te and Sarah Duff let a match point go awry before falling in a tiebreak, 9-8 (4). Caffrey Francis and Clara Reinheimer combined for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles while the No. 3 combo of Katie Siess and Jayme Danielson swept past their Lion counterparts 8-0.
In singles play, the Petrels got straight set wins from Francis at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2) and Siess at No. 5 (6-0, 6-4) before Danielson clinched the match at No. 3 by the score of 6-2, 6-1. The victory over the Lions marked the Petrels third consecutive win as they improved to 7-12 on the season. Complete match results listed below.
The Lady Netters will close out the regular season by facing Millsaps in Birmingham on April 21.
