Men's Tennis Picks Up Big 9-0 Win Over Huntingdon

The Oglethorpe men's tennis team swept Huntingdon at the Downing Howell Courts Friday afternoon, 9-0.

After a doubles sweep from Ethan Motz/Nick Roby (8-4), Bryan Bailey/C.J. Antonio (9-7) and Cedric Andre/Rajiv Dinakaran (8-2), the Petrels drew to within a match of clinching the day after Bailey won his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1.

It was the No. 1 singles match featuring Motz that clinched it for the Stormy Petrels, as he beat the best player on Huntingdon's squad 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the dual-match victory for Oglethorpe.

After the clinching match, Ben Hirsch (6-0, 6-3), Roby (6-0, 6-1), and Briton Richardson (6-0, 6-1) won in straight sets to bring the Petrels within a match of the clean sweep. C.J. Antonio lost the first set of the No. 2 singles 4-6, but then ran through the next two sets 6-3 and 6-3 clinch the 9-0 Oglethorpe victory.

The 3-2 Stormy Petrels will quickly get back on the court when they take on Mississippi College tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
