The Oglethorpe women's tennis team fell to Berry, currently ranked 11th in the Atlantic South region, Monday afternoon at the Howell Tennis Courts, by the final score of 8-1.
The Stormy Petrels' lone victory on the afternoon came from the No. 1 singles position, as JaHaun Freeman-Clark defeated her opponent in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. However, Berry ran off the remaining five singles matches, winning four of them in straight sets. The lone three-set match came from Ingrid Wilcox at No. 6. She lost 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.
In the doubles competition, Freeman-Clark and Katherine Walker were competitive at No. 1 doubles, losing 8-5. However, the Petrels lost the other two matches 8-2 and 8-3.
The loss drops the Petrels to 3-11 on the season, 0-3 in SAA play. They'll embark on their only SAA road trip of the season this weekend, as they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face Birmingham-Southern on Saturday before continuing to Jackson, Miss., to take on Millsaps on Sunday.
