Women's Lacrosse Sees Season Come to an End After SAA Playoff Loss at Centre

The Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Saturday, as they lost their SAA playoff game to Centre, 19-2, in Danville, Ky.

The Stormy Petrels got an early goal from midfielder Sydney Sparks, cutting a 2-0 deficit in half at the 26:43 mark of the first half. However, the home-standing Colonels tallied 14 unanswered goals over the remainder of the first half. They outscored the visitors 16-1 over the course of the opening period.

In the second half, the Petrels played much better defense, only allowing three Centre goals. However, the damage had already been done. Attacker Michelle Vasques scored the final goal for the Stormy Petrels, tallying an unassisted goal with 12:43 remaining in the game. 

Sparks scored her goal over the course of three shots while Vasques scored hers on just two. Vasques also grabbed three draw controls for the Petrels.  Goalie Paige Falkowski came up with 12 saves on the evening for the Stormy Petrels.

As a team, the Petrels were outshot 41-6, including 31-5 in shots on goal. The Petrels turned the ball over 27 times to just 15 for Centre and were only successfull on eight of 20 clear attempts. Centre was a perfect 11-for-11.

With the loss, the Petrels finish their season 0-16.
