The Oglethorpe women's tennis team picked up a 6-2 victory over Huntingdon Wednesday in Montgomery, Ala., improving them to 4-12 on the season.
The Stormy Petrels fell behind 2-1 after the doubles competition, getting an 8-3 victory from JaHaun Freeman-Clark and Katherine Walker at No. 1. However, with a tight 8-6 loss at No. 2 and an even tighter 9-7 loss at No. 3, the Petrels found themselves down a match entering the singles portion of the competition.
The Petrels came alive in the singles portion, however, winning all five completed matches. Freeman-Clark won 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) at No. 1 while Katherine Walker took down her No. 3 match, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Marcail McGranahan won 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 4, Ingrid Wilcox completed a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5, and Tricia Groover won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.
The Petrels return home to take on Middle Georgia at 2 p.m. Friday before returning to SAA play against Rhodes Saturday at 9 a.m. Hendrix will round out the SAA weekend at 9 a.m. Sunday.
