Box Score The Oglethorpe men's soccer team lost to Maryville, 3-0, Wednesday night in Maryville, Tenn., dropping their record to 2-3 on the season.
The Stormy Petrels outshot the homestanding Scots 10-9 and took four corner kicks to Maryville's five. The shots-on-goal totals were close, as well, with Maryville outshooting the Petrels 6-4 in that regard. However, Maryville took better advantage of their chances and, therefore, took the game.
The Scots scored the opening goal in the 27th minute and held a 1-0 lead at halftime. They then put the game away with goals in the 52nd and 80th minutes for the 3-0 final scoreline.
The 2-3 Petrels will have to recover quickly as they travel Birmingham, Ala., this weekend for the BSC Invitational, where they'll face a difficult schedule. They'll take on Hanover on Saturday at 1 p.m., then come back on Sunday and battle Greensboro at 12:30 p.m.
