The Oglethorpe women's tennis team went a perfect nine-for-nine Friday afternoon at the Downing Howell Courts, defeating the visiting Brooklyn Bulldogs in a clean sweep. The victory improved the Stormy Petrels to 8-3 on the season, and served as their fourth win in a row, as well as their sixth over their last seven matches. 

The homestanding Petrels got off to an excellent start in the doubles portion of the competition, only dropping two games in the three matches combined. The top doubles team of junior Caroline Johnson and freshman Hannah Dattilo earned a clean sweep, 8-0. Meanwhile, the No. 2 tandem of junior Halley Sickling and sophomore Shannon Cruz earned an 8-1 win, while sophomores Delaney Abood and Charlotte Disley won by the same scoreline at No. 3.

In the singles portion of the competition, the Petrels continued their dominance. Johnson won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, while Dattilo took down the No. 2 match in a clean sweep, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Ingrid Wilcox won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, as well, while Abood won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Disley earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and sophomore Jacquelyn Hinton won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 match.

"We came out and played very well in doubles at all three positions, putting us in great shape for the match," said Oglethorpe head coach Peter Howell. "It was good to see Jacquelyn Hinton come back from her injury and take a victory at No. 6. We will face a daunting challenge against nationally-ranked Sewanee tomorrow, as well as a powerful Centre team on Sunday."

The Petrels will travel to Tennessee to take on No. 16 Sewanee at 11 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, then will continue to Danville, Kentucky, for a matchup against Centre at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
