The Oglethorpe men's tennis team picked up a convincing 8-1 win over Hendrix Friday afternoon on the Howell Courts to improve their overall record to 8-4 and even up their SAA record at 1-1.
In singles play, the Petrels dropped a point at No. 1, but won each of the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Johnson won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. At No. 3, Benson picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win. Sophomore
Zoe Raymond, Santaloci and Schneider all picked up impressive wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

Peter Howell had this to say after the match: "I was very pleased with how the men came out focused and ready to play. Our doubles group played well and our singles players were sharp. It's nice to get a conference win and hopefully we will be ready to play tomorrow versus Rhodes."
The Petrels host the Lynx Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. After that, they'll head on the road to Demorest to take on Piedmont on Thursday, then to Birmingham, Alabama, and Jackson, Mississippi, to go against Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps, respectively, next weekend.
