Box Score

The Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 to the homestanding Centre Colonels Saturday in Danville, Kentucky. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-5 on the season overall and 0-3 in SAA play.

Centre started the game with eight consecutive goals over the opening 21 minutes. The Petrels answered with a goal of their own at the 7:55 mark when senior attacker Madison Goss finished off a feed from junior defender Dreshona Mapps-Whitmore. However, the Colonels finished the period with two more goals.

Oglethorpe scored three goals in the second half. Senior attacker Clarissa Hopkins found the net twice, once off an assist from senior midfielder Caroline Chamberlain, while Chamberlain added a marker of her own. However, the Colonels outscored Oglethorpe 9-3 over the course of the half.

Junior goalie Jordan Chandler made 25 saves on the afternoon for the Petrels.

Oglethorpe will next be in action Wednesday at 5 p.m., when they welcome Point University to the Oglethorpe Track and Field for a non-conference showdown. After that, they'll host a pair of SAA contests against Birmingham-Southern and Rhodes before playing Georgia Tech in an exhibition game to finish off their home season.
