The Oglethorpe women's tennis team got untracked in conference play Saturday in Conway, Arkansas, beating the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 8-1 to improve to 1-4 in SAA competition and 8-5 overall.

Senior Delaney Abood and sophomore Lisette Phillips started things off with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, while senior Charlotte Disley and junior Elizabeth Bielicki prevailed in a 7-5 tiebreak to take their match and give the Petrels a 2-1 lead headed into singles competition. Junior Hannah Dattilo and senior Shannon Cruz fell 8-5 at the top line.

The Petrels got off to a fast start in singles, as Dattilo won 6-2, 6-2 on the top line. Disley picked up a big win at No. 3, knocking off her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Cruz closed things out from her No. 2 position, winning 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the Oglethorpe victory at 5-1. 

With the match already decided, the remaining three singles matches were played as single eight-game sets, similarly to how doubles matches are played. Abood took down her opponent 8-3 at No. 4, while Bielicki won her No. 5 match 8-2. Phillips closed things out for the Petrels with an 8-1 victory from the No. 6 line.

"It was great to get a conference win on the road," said Oglethorpe head coach Peter Howell. "Charlotte Disley played her best match of the spring, and our No. 2 doubles team had a pivotal win. We've got a difficult match against regionally-ranked Rhodes tomorrow."

The Petrels take on the Lynx on Sunday afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, then travel to northwest Georgia to take on Berry in their final regular-season match on Friday.
