The Stormy Petrel men's tennis team kicked off their 2019-2020 Season in Montgomery, Alabama, at the John McWilliams Invitational, where we went 15-12 in singles and 7-5 in doubles.
Connor Sisson swept his singles bracket 3-0. Freshman Plato Constantinides showed significant improvement in singles. The team has a strong doubles line up with Alexis Morel and Calvin Schneider leading the pack at No. 1. They showed great movement and net closes as they move forward into their fall season.
Walker Towns and Zoe Raymond were leading the team on ball placement and their ability to strategically construct the points. Connor Sisson and John Bielicki were all about power and pace. Alex Garcia and Brandon Jackson showed what great chemistry can do for a doubles team as they had amazing energy and ended the weekend with a 3-0 record.
"We're really excited about the depth on the team, attitude (on and off the court), our determination, and I'm extremely impressed with the men's team on their representation of Oglethorpe University," said Oglethorpe head coach Paul Danielson. "A few key takeaways as we move into preparing for our ITA tournament next weekend will be practicing our return of serve, net play, and acclimating to our new partners."
