Box Score The Oglethorpe women's tennis team fell to the North Central (Illinois) Cardinals Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, dropping to 0-3 on the season with the 9-0 loss.
The Petrels had a rough day, falling in all three doubles matches which included an injury retirement in the No. 2 contest. Oglethorpe lost five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Alyssa Merletti went to a third-set super-tiebreak at No. 4, but fell 10-7 in the extra frame. She won the first set 6-4 before falling 7-6 in a tiebreak to give her North Central opponent the second set.
The Petrels will be back in action with a doubleheader on Monday, as they take on John Carroll bright and early at 8 a.m. before returning to the USTA National Campus to go against Wartburg at 6:30 p.m.
